Bright, equivalent to 60w Incandescent
FLUORESCENT BLACKLIGHT BULB
- SPIRAL DESIGN 110v US
- High-Intensity U.V.
- Screw-in Base
|
Size: 5 inches from top of bulb
to tip of base and about 2 inches wide
Power consumption is a laughable 13 watts, so you can run these forever with really very little electricity use.
110 v US current:
If your county's voltage system is 230v etc, you'll need a voltage converter, available at any travel, hardware or electronic store (Canada is same as U.S.)
|
Now here's a great little bulb with the not insignificant advantage of your being able to pop it into any available lamp or socket with a standard light-bulb type screw -in base.
Brand new, about 5 inches long from tip of screw-in base to end of bulb, and 2 inches diameter at the widest point of the glass spiral, it features base-mounted circuitry.
The miniscule size, therefore, means you can get this into small areas where a regular size blacklight couldn't possibly fit (a Halloween Pumpkin, for instance).
Keep in mind, as well, ( I get asked this a lot ) ..... these give off genuine UV blacklight 365 nm spectrum, unlike inexpensive (under 5.00) screw-in incandescent bulbs that are painted blue to look like blacklight, but aren't.
Little known fact of Ultraviolet life:
Incandescent (screw-in) bulb filaments cannot (in this lifetime anyway) produce UV spectrum.
Only fluorescent bulb filaments can give off a genuine UV (ultraviolet) blacklight effect.

To my way of thinking, selling screw-in 'party bulbs' that imply they're blacklight UV, is a major fraud on an unsuspecting buying public. They will not (as in, cannot, ever) light up a blacklight poster, for instance ( then again, maybe on their planet they do; on my planet, however, they do not).

All in all, these put out a really decent amount of UV for their size.......enough for a small room.
And they're ideally suited perhaps for highlighting a prized display or other blacklight-sensitive creation. With a little ingenuity in placement, they'll look killer when activated.
They'll definitely light up anything fluorescent (blacklight posters etc), and make white items (like t-shirts or panties, if being used in a bedroom or party) appear an intense glowing white.
Have sold hundreds of these things over the years, so they've been very well received, and consequently a tried and true regular stock item.
They may seem relatively expensive at first glance, but being fluorescent, longevity can be quite high (I once had a demo unit that survived several years of on-again/off-again use).
Often, of course, the futuristic design is worth the extra money, especially if you want to accentuate a room, liven up a dark corner or highlight a store display.

Picture below is borrowed from my handheld blacklight auction, but is a good illustration of what to expect as far as fluorescent illumination effects.

ACCESSORY OPTION :
Click on pen picture below to add an Invisible Ink U.V. Pen to your order.
This can be extraordinarily useful over time, and may pay for itself a hundredfold
if it helps you catch a fraudulent transaction

Secretly mark a liquor bottle if you think someone (kids, for instance) is drinking from it
Invisibly mark where an object, door, etc is resting: it it's been moved, you'll immediately know
Be sure your mechanic actually changed a part: mark it before repairs begin
Mark returned items if you're a seller, or household items, bikes, etc. for theft

Blacklights can be great fun, and immensely practical at the same time. Below is a comprehensve list of wondrous real-world applications for blacklights.
Some of these, of course, apply to other models in my ebaY store (obviously you'll not be using this AC bulb anytime soon to hunt scorpions in the desert ), but they're worth repeating as a good overview of what blacklights can do, and some may be of immense benefit to you now or later, you just never know.
SCORPION HUNTING IN THE DESERT:
Believe it or not, these critters turn bright fluorescent green under UV....Arizonians will cheefully attest to this; one playfully nicknamed her unit 'Scorpion Seeker'.
DETECTING SUN DAMAGE ON YOUR SKIN:
Prepare to be shocked here-----look at your face in a mirror under UV and brown patches will show where sun damage has occurred over the years.
HAND STAMPS:
Used in night clubs with invisible ink for readmission identification.
DETECTING FAKED SIGNATURES or STAMP COLLECTIONS:
Especially, if a signature was 'added' to a painting or document years after its production.
MINERAL AND ROCK INSPECTION:
Some of these naturally fluoresce for easy identification in the field.
GLASS AND IVORY ANALYSIS:
Certain glass types, such as Vaseline or Burmese, glow brightly under UV. Don't quote me on this, but I think Custard glass is identifiable as well.
USE WITH INVISIBLE INK PEN TO SECRETLY MARK ITEMS:
This is very clever, actually. You can mark car parts when getting your car worked on (if your UV mark is still there, the part was never changed). Same goes for returned items if you're a seller. And, of course, to mark household items, bikes, etc. for theft ID.
DETECTING CHLOROPHYLL:
For the scientifically inclined, chlorophyll indicates the presence of photosynthesis in oxygen-producing organisms.
INDUSTRIAL / MILITARY / POLICE/ FORENSIC / LABORATORY USES
These applications could take up volumes of detailed
QUICKLY IDENTIFY REPAIRED ANTIQUE ITEMS:
Old versus new materials become really obvious under UV--it's almost like having a form of X-ray vision. Glued areas on porcelain or pottery items are a dead giveaway with this handheld unit, as are overpainted pieces. And cracks or flaws in China that are not visible to the naked eye, even a trained one, are screaming out loud under blacklight. Gems, stamps, cast iron and various paper materials are good candidates as well.
TEXTILE ANALYSIS
Highlight weave defects and uniformity.
PET URINE STAINS:
Detect urine on household surfaces; if you have a kitty or puppy marking areas in your house that need to be deodorized, a strong blacklight can identify the offending spots. Often these are invisible to the eye, but will creat an odor over time. Using your blacklight, these stains can be treated with an enzyme cleaner.
A side note: I remember (and you may have seen) a mind-boggling TV expose once about commercial hotels and motels, and the stories the sheets therein REALLY told after a quick blacklight inspection by a private detective.
REPTILES and some BIRDS:
Certain of these species cannot exist in confinement without added UV light. (from full size plug in units).
MAY HELP CONTROL COLD AND FLU VIRUSES:
Indoors, in conjunction with full spectrum lighting (full size unit is necessary for this).
DETECTING COUNTERFEIT MONEY:
The differences are painfully obvious---fake money glows unnaturally bright.
DETECTING ALTERED CREDIT CARDS:
Just for fun, look at your American Express credit card under blacklight.
HALLOWEEN AND PARTY DECORATIONS, THEATRICAL AND FASHION SHOWS, and EVEN LOVEMAKING:
Not much elaboration needed here !
MANUSCRIPT FORGERIES:
The 'Hitler Diaries', as an example, were suspicious because of the paper used.
ART EFFECTS: ILLUMINATE FLUORESCENT PAINT:
Fluorescent paint glows extremely bright, as do white indoor surfaces or clothing such as a white shirt (as all party goers know).
