Dit stuk steen heeft in tegenstelling tot veel beginnende metaaldetectorhobbyisten zullen vermoeden, wel een gebruiksfunctie. Het is namelijk gebruikt als vuurkets, voor een musketgeweer of -pistool. Doorgaans zitten de stenen in een loden houdertje, en dienden om de kruitlading te ontsteken. De vonk werd door 'de haan' van het geweer of pistool op het kruitreservoir overgebracht.
