Centre Finder For Woodturning 
This is must have tool for every woodturner, it's a simple, quick and effective tool to find and mark the centre point of
round, hexagon or square stock up to approx 8" in
diameter (hexagon up to 5 3/4" ) As a woodturner myself, I use this centre finder for marking the centre point to locate my live centre or screw chuck. I also find this tool useful for marking out a bowl blank, (I drill the central point using a forstner bit to fit my chuck jaws) and also use it to mark where to screw on a face plate. In terms of waste wood when roughing out, this makes the centre finder a cost effective tool, and more importantly makes the wood safer to turn as the wood will be more centrally balanced. To use: Place the center finder over the end of the wood, mark a line, then rotate the center finder approximately 90° and then mark a second line. The intersection of crosshairs of the two lines will define the centre of the work piece.   We are a

Our Woodturning Sticks can be applied directly to bare wood or on top of a sanding sealer. Our Woodturning wax sticks are made with high purity, natural, non-toxic, high grade Brazilian Carnauba palm wax and blended with pure English Beeswax to retain an excellent natural beeswax aroma that is easy to apply. Beeswax was traditionally used by woodturners for Centuries. It
is a moderately soft and sticky wax with a wonderful smell, melts at a low
tempreture, buffs out to a mellow glow and its easy to use, but the finish does not wear or
handle well. Since the advent of modern electric lathes most woodturners have
used a wax stick made from Carnauba wax and Beeswax which gives a
harder wearing and longer lasting finish. It is the hardness
and higher melting point of the Carnauba that gives the polish it's excellent
durable, high gloss finish that also helps to reduce finger marks. Carnauba wax is
expensive as it is obtained from the outer waxy coating of
palm fronds from the Copernicia cerifera (the Brazilian Carnauba Palm). The
fronds are collected twice a year in September and December and the wax is
extracted by separating from the frond with mechanical beaters. A
maximum of twenty leaves can be collected during each of the two yearly cutting
seasons. On average these twenty leaves only produce 1kg of Carnauba wax. The
colour of the wax is determined by the age of the leaves when harvested and
ranges from pale yellow (new, unopened leaves) to greenish brown (older leaves
exposed to sun and weather). The pale yellow wax is the highest grade of
Carnauba available. Carnauba wax is too hard to use on its own as it
would scratch the work piece as it is the worlds hardest natural wax. It's
harder than concrete and has the highest melting point of all natural waxes (84C). This is why Carnauba is blended with beeswax to make it less hard and
brittle and lowers the melting point. The blending of the two waxes makes it easier to apply and you still
have the wonderful smell of the Beeswax. For a high shine, first apply a coat of shellac or spirit sanding sealer to the turned piece, allow the sealer to dry then apply the Carnauba wax, and buff.
