Karate is the most essential of the arts of unarmed self-defense - a protective, not an aggressive technique. This book is a very comprehensive guide to karate. It has the basics like the introduction (eg. ancient combat techniques in the west and ancient india, etc), karate weapons (how to use your hands as a principle weapon like the inverted fist, inner knife hand, spear hand, etc), different thrusts (forefist roundhouse strike, knife-hand strike to the face, etc), kicks (heel kick, side high kick, etc), blocks (cross block, lower parry, etc), stances and breathing, daily training methods, formal exercises, self-defense techniques (against knifes, pistols, etc) and new directions in karate. Includes very detailed pictures for readers and the book has a lot more techniques that I am unable to describe in full detail here.
