This is great for taking self-portraits with your friend or girlfriend/boyfriend (which was my idea too when my gf and I decided to buy it). I am a professional photographer and videographer by profession and you can be sure that it has always been in good hands and well taken care of. When it comes to battery life, this camera's battery was discharged completely upon purchase and it was fully charged over a cycle of more than 12 hours, discharged completely again due to usage, charged completely and discharged again over a 5 times so you can be sure it's battery potential is at maximum! Not many people read the instructions for electronics which you should always do especially for the battery's charging instructions.
