 Tortoiseshell glazed  /  " tiger’s fur "

宋代吉州窯玳瑁釉  又稱  虎皮班釉

The Teabowl is covered inside and out with a black glaze, to which amber splashes are applied in a seemingly random pattern. The amber streaks have white edges. The glaze stops just short of the foot, This fine teabowl is covered in a striking, so-called ‘tortoiseshell’ glaze. The type of glaze seen here is sometimes referred to as  ‘ tiger’s fur ’.

 

Circa : Song period ( 960~1279AD ).
Material : Porcelain.
Diameter : 12 cm
Height : 5.9 cm.
Condition : Good.
