Like many artists in Singapore, Ching Hing Kang's art training started at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts. While at NAFA, he worked part-time as a cinema poster painter. Later, he joined a publishing firm and became involved in book design. In 1979, he went to Saudi Arabia, on attachment to a publishing and advertising agency. There, he won the top prize in a bank logo design competition. He used the prize money to travel the Arab countries, capturing the landscapes in watercolour. Since then, he has roamed all over Europe and Asia. He is a versatile artist, at home with various mediums
