This is a charming antique Cabinet Photo. It is a portrait of a sweet little baby. The child is sitting upright on a lovely textile. The baby's eyes have been drawn in by the photographer. Babies were usually dressed to the nines for photos, but this baby wears a simple romper with a lace collar. Hopefully, the studio was warm! The photo is by Max Schneider of San Francisco, California. The photo is a lovely sepia brown and has very good contrast. The textile is a little lighter at the left side. The photo is in very good condition and if you turn it to catch glare, you see a quite small amount of wear in the middle area. This is not bad at all and we prefer to overstate rather than omit. The Cabinet Card is 4 1/4 by 6 1/2 inches. There is a very light stain at the upper left corner area in the "sky". It could be a partial fingerprint and may have been made by the photography artist when using ink to accentuate the baby's eyes. We estimate this to be from about 1885 or so, give or take a few short years. What a charming portait!
