Other than the HARDWARE being MODIFIED for REGION-FREE, CODE-FREE, ZONE-FREE playback of DVDs and BLU-RAY DISCS, you are looking at a BRAND NEW Oppo Digital BDP-83, a UNIVERSAL BLU-RAY DISC PLAYER. Since this has been modified to be REGION-FREE, this is truly the world's FIRST universal Blu-Ray player. It plays ZONE A, B & C Blu-ray Discs as well as Region 0-6 DVDs! Oppo's BDP-83 comes with everything anyone could ever want in a Blu-Ray player, including PROFILE 2.0 support, internal decoding of DOLBY TRUEHD and DTS-MASTER AUDIO FORMATS, SACD playback and DVD-AUDIO.
If the other REGION-FREE & ZONE-FREE players do not describe how the players are modified, it is safe to assume that the firmware has been modified. This means that since the firmware is modified, you will not be able to upgrade/change/reset your firmware without losing the REGION-FREE & MULTI-ZONE capability. Source Direct Mode - For users who wish to use an
