This beautiful piece is traditionally used to gather, carry, and serve grain, beans, fruit, and nuts. Baskets are also used as gifts and for ceremonial purposes. The weaving fibers are from the Ilala palm, Raffia fibers, and Ncebe wild banana. The colors come from various indigenous roots, leaves, berries, and other materials, usually soaked and boiled for many days. It has an attached loop for hanging, but can, of course, also be used as a shallow bowl for an arrangement. Please browse our store for more amazing traditional creations!
Please note that this piece is handmade of organic materials. It will show the natural flaws and personal qualities of its origin. We feel this adds immensely to its individual value! Measurements are approximate, and pictures are representative of the basic theme only.
