The Z-axis linear scale is installed in the front as there is a taper attachment at the back of the lathe.

These are factory extruded aluminium coolant guard specially made for the lathe cross slide.
The back plate is first mounted on the cross slide. And the linear scale is mounted on this back plate. That make the job much easier!
 
Factory make a wide range of linear scales to fit your machine -
- MicroScale MS5 is suitable for use where space is tight (compound slide of a lathe). Available from 100, 150, 170, 200, 250 ... to 500 mm.
- Slim scale MS6 has a slightly bigger profile than MS5 Microscale, but it cost less than MS5 Microscale.
- Meister MS2 Ultra is available from 1050, 1150, 1250, 1350, 1450, 1550, 1650, and 1850 mm.
MS2 Ultra scale is designed to withstand machine vibration.
