Hair Growth Cycle

Hair is grown and regenerated from hair papilla deep in our hair follicle. Making up of keratin (protein) and water, every strand of our hair has to go through three stages of hair growth cycle. They are namely anagen (the growing phase), catagen (the intermediate phase) and telogen (the shedding phase). The completion of each cycle normally takes 2 to 6 years.

As part of the normal hair replacement process on a healthy scalp and follicle, about 50 to 100 strands of hair are shed on a daily basis and new hair will grow in place of the fallen hair. This is the start of a new hair growth cycle.

However, this normal hair growth cycle can be disrupted by external factors. Most of these factors can be taken under control.
