Artist Profile:
Jimmy Quek (born in Singapore, 1955), trained in the fine arts in Singapore, has been practicing art full time since 1986.
He has held 11 one-man exhibitions and participated in more than 80 group art exhibitions in Yokohama, Kobe, Sapporo, Rotterdam, New York, Washington DC, Indianapolis, Dallas, Los Angeles, Honolulu, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Bangladesh, Beijing, Quanzhou, Shanghai, Korea, Fukuoka, Osaka, Thailand, Vietnam, Brunei Darussalam, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.
Recently his works are exhibited at The Olympic Arts Festival 2004 - Olympic Truce : Pieces of Peace at the Delegation of the European Commission in Washington DC, U.S.A. and The Singapore Art Show 2005 - A Different Light : Works from the Corporate Art Collections at the National Library Building Singapore.
He is the winner of First Prize IBM Art Award Singapore. He has judged several local and regional art competitions and has served as External Assessor for the LaSalle-SIA College of the Arts. He signs his painting "Prabhakara" which in Sanskrit means source of light. His paintings adorn many hundreds of major areas of corporations, hospitals, convention centre, airline lounges, banks, offices and homes of art lovers and art collectors worldwide.
