Lot of two hand colored botanical engravings from the 1734 quarto version of Robert Furber's famous botanical catalog which consisted of twelve plates (plus title page) showing twelve months of flowers. This lot consists of the engraved title page and the month of August.  Engravings by James Smith from paintings by Pieter Casteels. Sheet size is 7 1/2 by 10 inches. Both plates with foxing. The title page has been backed with old laid paper, probably a very long time ago. These Furber flowers of the month are quite scarce in the general market. I found a price on the whole quarto set  of 13 engravings for $12,500. US shipping is free.
