To protect the mythical land of Faerun, Elminster imprisoned the generals of two demon armies. Trapped within a gem, one of the generals, a Slaad Lord, used powerful mind control to call upon three unwitting heroes to free him. Once released, the Slaad Lord pursued the other general, a female Githyanki, across the land.
The exploited heroes attempt to correct their wrong. They attempt to seek out Elminster, retrieve a new gem, and capture and imprison the escaped generals. They find the Githyanki general in a dragon’s lair, dying from an attack by a dragon (a Slaad ally). She turns her sword over to the heroes, explaining that it is the only artifact that can kill the Slaad Lord. When the dragon arrives, he reveals vital information before dying at the hands of the heroes: he tells them they are being manipulated by the Slaad.
The heroes discover that the Slaad Lord is amassing an army to sweep across Faerun. A massive showdown ensues. The Slaad Lord is defeated and balance isrestored between the two warring armies.
But the Githyanki are not happy. The heroes possess their greatest general’s artifact sword… but that is another story.
