2.What is Bluetooth

Bluetooth is a short-range, secure and simple wireless technology. It's a low-power, low-cost way for electronic devices to connect and exchange information with one another, without the use of wires or cables.

Among the devices that can be used with Bluetooth:

• computers
• cell phones and PDAs
• printers
• keyboards and mice


Bluetooth technology uses user-friendly radio signals instead of infrared technology. The radio signals allow Bluetooth-enabled devices to connect and communicate with each other—and no direct line of sight is necessary.

A Bluetooth-enabled device transmits a signal within a 23 foot radius, at a speed of up to 3mbps. Bluetooth is considered a wireless personal area network (PAN), as opposed to a wireless local area network (LAN).

3. How to install

Removing the Battery

  1. Shut down the computer and turn it over.

  1. Slide the battery lock latch and battery release latch to unlock position.
     
  2. Pull the battery up and out of the battery bay.

Removing the Keyboard

  1. Follow the procedures in Before You Begin.
     
  2. Remove the battery (see Removing the Battery).
     
  3. Remove the three screws that secure the keyboard to the computer base.



 

  1. Turn the computer over and open the display.
     
  2. Pry the center rear side of the keyboard by using your finger or a flat-blade screwdriver. Slightly release the left side of the keyboard and then the right side till it comes out from its base.
     
  3. Ease the keyboard up until it clears off the palm rest bracket.
     
  4. Without pulling hard on the keyboard, turn it over and place it over the palm rest.
     
  5. Release the keyboard cable locks on the system board connector and pull the pull-tab to disconnect the keyboard cable from the system board connector.


  1. Lift the keyboard off the palm rest.

Removing the Palm Rest

  1. Follow the instructions in Before You Begin.
     
  2. Remove the battery (see Removing the Battery).
     
  3. Remove keyboard (see Removing the Keyboard).
     
  4. Release the touch pad cable locks and disconnect the touch pad cable from the system board connector.


 

  1. Starting at the right/left of the palm rest, use your fingers to separate the palm rest from the palm rest bracket.
     
  2. Gently pull the touch pad cable out of the cable slot and lift the palm rest off the palm rest bracket.

Removing the Bluetooth Card

  1. Follow the instructions in Before You Begin.
     
  2. Remove the battery (see Removing the Battery). Must do
     
  3. Remove the keyboard (see Removing the Keyboard). Must do
     
  4. Remove the palm rest (see Removing the Palm Rest). Must do
     
  5. Remove the hard drive (see Removing the Hard Drive).
     
  6. Remove the palm rest bracket (see Removing the Palm Rest Bracket).
     
  7. Push the card out of the Bluetooth card compartment in the palm rest bracket.
