These are very Special TIBETAN METEORITE DOUBLE
VAJRA / DORJE from a Tibetan Monastery in Tibet.
The Crossed or Universal Vajra is
formed from 4 Lotus Mounted Vajra Heads that emanate from a central hub towards
the 4 Cardinal Directions and symbolizes the Principle of Absolute Stability.
This item is known as Vishva Vajra (
Sanskrit ) or Dorje
Gyagram ( Tibetan ).
In the cosmographic description of Mount Meru
~~ a vast Vishva Vajra supports
or underlines the entire physical universe.
Similarly in the representation of the Mandala,
a large Vishva Vajra serves
as the Immovable Support or Foundation of the Mandala Palace.
Bodhi Gaya, the sacred place where Lord Sakyamuni Buddha
attained enlightenment is also known as Vajrasana or Vajra Seat.
The immovable posture in which He sat and in
which a vast majority of seated Deities are depicted is known as Vajra
Posture or Vajra Paryanka ( Sanskrit ).
In many visualization practices, particularly those
performed in long retreats, a Vishva Vajra is either drawn or
imagined underneath the practitioner`s meditation seat.
Similarly, the emblem of a Crossed Vajra is inscribed
upon the metal plate that is used to seal Deity statues after they have been
consecrated.
The Vertical Vishva Vajra represents
the Visualized Generation
of the Deity
and
the Horizontal Vishva Vajra represents
the unshakeable stability
of the Vajra Ground upon which the Deity`s Mandala Palace resides.
The 4 Points of the Vishva
Vajra represents the 4 Activities or Rites of Tantra,
which are
Pacifying, Enriching, Subjugating and Destroying.
A 5th
General or All Purpose activity is sometimes included.
Meteorite Iron or Sky Iron, also known as gNam Cags, is the supreme substance for
forging the physical representation of the Vishva Vajra or
other iron weapons, since the metal has already been tempered by the Gods in
its passage across the Heavens.
The indivisibility of form and emptiness is a perfect
metaphor for the image of a meteorite, which blazes out of the voidness of space
as a shooting star or fireball which than explodes upon the surface of the
earth into fragments of fused iron.
The Tibetan plateau, with its high altitude, thin
atmosphere and desolate landscape received an abundance of meteorite iron in
ancient times and as a act of sympathetic magic, a piece of this iron is
sometimes returned to its original site after forging of these tantric items.
