WASHING MACHINE TAG @ VEGETABLE PEELER ON BACK

TYPE- vintage paper tag.

SIZE- about 3.5" wide, by 5.5" tall, has printing on both sides.

CONDITION-  vintage paper tag. It is a bit worn, but then you would expect something about 60 years old, to have a bit of wear & tear.  The color has changed to brown, from old age, & one hole was torn away. Otherwise, looks good, for it's age! I found this treasure at a local thrift store.

FABRIC-  heavy paper. ALL MY ITEMS COME FROM A PET-FREE AND NON SMOKING HOME.

DETAILS- vintage or antique card/tag, showing a BENDIX WASHING MACHINE ON ONE SIDE; THE OTHER SIDE SHOWS A POTATO & VEGETABLE PEELER. 

The FRONT of the tag tells about the Bendix AUTOMATIC WASHING machine & all the things it can do. TAG MADE BY-  DISTRICT ELECTRIC COMPANY, 4905 WISCONSIN AVE, N.W., WASHINGTON, D.C., PHONE: WOodley 4902.  There is no date, but the dress & hat, indicate the 40's. No zip code, no area phone code, etc. This is really old, and hard to find, too!

Back side says- NEW INVENTION, VEGETABLE PEELER, WITH COILS. MFg BY G.O. VAN DRAKE, VALPARISO, IND, WITH WARNING ABOUT SPRING COILS. This is very unusual, too.

This is so old I think it was made either before, or after World War II. When did they start having automatic washing machines? I remember my mother washing clothes, with a wringer washer, when I was a little girl. I was told to never get close, or I might get my hand caught in the wringers. Wow, I was about 5 years old, in 1945, and will never forget that order from my Mother! We did not have modern appliances, like rich people did, and we had an ice box until I was at least 10 years old, in 1950!

WE JUST WATCHED AN OLD TV SHOW & THE WIFE HAD AN AUTOMATIC WASHER, JUST LIKE THIS ONE. WOW!!!

USE- for your Bendix collection, DISTRICT ELECTRIC CO, old advertising ads, and collecting antique or vintage tags. 

AGE- This is vintage & but in great shape, too. Perfect for scrapbooking too.
