In this holiday auction we are very excited to present a piece from David Delamare's new “Night Alice” series. This is a collection of oil paintings depicting scenes from Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland all set at night. (Yes, we realize that this rabbit is not actually white, but this is the way that David envisioned him appearing at night—note the stars in the background.) We’ve seen many different illustrations of the famous story but, apart from those created for the original book by John Tenniel we're usually a bit disappointed. We think these pieces perfectly capture the somber yet whimsical tone of Carroll’s masterpiece. By the way, David Delamare's favorite film version of Alice is the one directed by the extraordinary Dr. Jonathan Miller. But he's also eager to see Tim Burton's upcoming interpretation of the tale featuring Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter.

More than likely we will be publishing a "Night Alice" book and, if so, this will be included in its pages.

This original oil painting was created on archival artist’s board (watercolor paper on heavy mat board). It appears matted, but actually, the red border and the background color are part of the painting. The embossed round seal that you see on the image is not on the painting--it is a copyright mark for the Internet.

Though we have listed it with a very affordable price, this is NOT a reproduction. (Because we are selling directly to collectors, instead of through a gallery, we are able to offer it at a very low price.) We do plan to publish limited edition prints of some of the painting in this series, but this is the only chance to own this original painting.
