The focus of this article is to look at where and what these requirements are. ARTILLERY - LARGER, HEAVIER, FURTHER AND MORE ACCURATE: Francis Tusa - Artillery is changing and offering potential users a wide range of system choices. In this article the questions of tube versus rocket, self-propelled and towed, and ammunition are discussed. ARTILLERY AMMUNITION DEVELOPMENTS IN RUSSIA: David Saw - Russia has a long tradition of excellence in artillery systems. In recent years they have broadened their perspective to include advanced ammunition types. This article looks at how Russia and Western technology are working together in the artillery sector. AIR 87 - LIFT OFF DOWN UNDER: Peter La Franchi - The Air 87 programme in Australia has already attracted six bids, with Agusta, Denel, Bell, Boeing, Eurocopter and Sikorsky all participating. In this article we look at what is being offered and at the actual AIR 87 requirements. THE DANGER OF ASYMMETRIC THREATS: Francis Tusa - The ability to produce an NBC capability is easily achieved with a very limited industrial base, as such the NBC threat continues to be a major concern. ADELAIDE UPGRADES - A QUESTION OF SCALE AND CAPABILITY: Peter La Franchi - The Royal Australian Navy are seeking to upgrade the capabilities of their six Adelaide class frigates in a number of critical areas. ADI and Tenix lead the two teams bidding for the contract and their proposals are discussed in this article. SYSTEM FOCUS - RUSSIAN MISSILE DEVELOPMENTS AT ANTEY: David Saw - Recent launches of Tactical Ballistic Missles (TBM) continue to focus interest on finding an effective defensive solution. Antey, the Russian air defence missiles specialists, have working on a new set of solutions to counter the TBM threat.
