An early Anri mechanical carved wooden bottle stopper, of a man wearing a three-button waistcoat, dark brown on the back and spotted paler brown on the front, over a white shirt and red tie. Press the lever at the back, and, nothing happens, as I assume he must at one time have had a hat (now missing), which rose and fell (although I can find no details on this one, I can't think what else could have happened, as the eyes, mouth and arms are carved in the solid and non-moving, and no other vacant holes anywhere). Should be straightforward to restore, as the lever is complete and and working, with just slightest wear on the tip of the inside section, there is a tiny stub of white elastic hidden behind the centre button, and protruding into the inside, on a level with the lever pivot, all you need to do is carve another hat (simple!). Not marked, but undoubtedly from the Anri factory, as it came together with the next items I am selling, see below.

Please view my other items, as tomorrow I will be listing two genuine original very early Anri Ltd catalogue, for sale separately. One a 1920's edition from their Regent Street, London, shop, the other a multilingual edition, circa 1930, from their Italian Factory, how rare is that!

This sale is for the incomplete Anri carved wooden mechanical bottle-stopper, as shown in the photo's, and remarked on above, size approx 4 inches (10cm) tall.

Lacking a hat (if that was the moving part), probable non-original cork, with a hole bored through the cork to the inside (just visible in 1st photo)
, original paintwork well rubbed and soiled, but no obvious chips or loss to the carving. With some time and restoration this obviously vintage piece would add nicely to someone's collection.

Please see my   other items  for sale, as I will always try and combine deliveries to save you money.

If you would like any further information, or photo's, please email me.
