What is a LAPTOP COOLER?

A laptop/notebook cooler or cooler pads an accessory for laptop computers that helps reduce their operating temperature. Normally used when the laptop's fan device is unable to sufficiently cool the laptop, a cooling pad may house active or passive cooling methods and rests beneath the laptop. Active coolers move air or liquid to direct heat away from the laptop quickly.

How it works?

The laptop cooler is a rectangular platform made of sturdy ABS plastic that is designed to sit underneath your laptop and provide an "air gap" between the laptop and the laptop cooler. This air gap allows air to circulate (warm air out, cool air in) beneath the laptop and thus enabling the hot laptop components to cool down. In addition, the laptop cooler also has a SUPER SUCTION FAN that draw warm air down into the laptop cooler and out the sides (air exhaust ports) and into the surrounding atmosphere. Another side benefit is that plastic is an insulator, which means the laptop cooler actually acts like a barrier or "heat shield" between the laptop and your lap.

Why is it bad to use a laptop without a laptop cooler?

The reason is because laptop computers generate a lot of excessive heat. This heat can be bad for both the laptop computer and the person using it. A hot laptop might damage delicate and expensive components like your hard drive, processor, or motherboard. The other side of the coin is that the heat can make the computer user hot and uncomfortable. If the laptop gets hot enough, it could even burn you. There are many horror stories about burned laps and other body parts. Just do a Google search if you don't believe. All in all, it's always wise to stick a laptop cooler between you and your portable computer.
