800 Years Old Large Song Dynasty Longquan Celadon Bowl

This is an elegant, 700 years old, beautifully well potted Yuan Dynasty (AD 1280 - 1368), Zhejiang, Longquan Kilns, Celadon bowl with impressed flower design decoration in the centre, thick green glaze falling to the unglazed base.

'Longquan' means 'Dragon Fountain' in Chinese, is a name of a village in Zhejiang Province, where ther are over 360 ancient kilns. The Kilns in Longquan village exhibited comparatively better craftsmanship and produced a greater quantity of greenware. The term 'Celadon' refers to the colour of greenware used in the West. It is said to have been derived from a character in a seventeen century French play who was distinguished by the greyish-green costume he customarily donned.

Size: Approx. 17 cm ( 7" in ) x 7 cm

Condition: Excellent Perfect condition with very nice celadon glaze. Accumulation of glaze can be seen at the mouth rim. No hairlines, no cracks or restoration.
