22"Early Antique Composition Amberg Doll~Rare Body~Tin

This wonderful 22 inch doll was produced by Louis Amberg & Son of New York in circa 1918. She has a composition shoulder head with tin sleep eyes and a pin-jointed leather body with wood/composition arms and composition lower legs. Although incomplete, her body retains a portion of the original AMKID chest label. On the back of her shoulder plate is a faintly embossed; L A & S. Despite a small chip above her left eye and sides of her neck, repainted hands and slight paint touches to the upper left lower leg and neck chips, she is in excellent, clean, original condition. Similar to the bisque head dolls of her time, she too has feathered brows and beautiful facial molding. Manufactured with a dimpled chin and cheeks, she also has two painted top teeth in her high-peaked open mouth. While she would have worn a real human hair wig originally, she also has deeply molded hair. Her body is in good structural condition without need of repair. She is costumed in only an antique eyelet slip that is in very good condition without tears or stains. As she is jointed at both the hips and knees, she can be placed easily in a seated position to display. Domestic insurance is included in the shipping price.
