The coins are part of the third Chinese Almanac Coins Series designed by Mr Xu Yunfei of Shanghai Mint. The image of the rat is integrated with ancient Chinese seal characters in a design that combines tradition with modernity. The animal is symbolised by the Chinese characters of the "Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches" to enhance the characteristics of the animal and the oriental flavour. The design incorporates a peony which is a symbol of blessing and festive cheer. The coins come in eight versions - 0.3g, 1/4oz, 1oz, 5oz 999.9 fine gold, 2oz 999 fine silver piedfort, 20g and 5oz 999 fine silver, and cupro-nickel proof-like. What I have to offer is the 5 troy ounce coin of 999.9 fine gold with diameter of 60 mm. It is labelled number 10 of a very limited mintage run of 200 pieces only. It was issued in Jan 2008 by the Monetary Authority of Singapore and was manufactured by the Singapore Mint. The coin comes in an attractive octagonal rosewood box, with certificate of authenticity. The coin itself is encased in a sealed clear plastic container, in itself proof of authenticity and that you are getting what you pay for! Since I bought it, it has been stored in its original packaging and is in mint condition. Specifications Denomination: Singapore dollar 200 Composition: 999.9 fine gold Finish: Proof Weight: 155.52g Diameter: 60mm Thickness: 3.8mm Mintage: 200 pieces Issue Date: 4 Jan 2008
