Hand quilting is a rare and extinct art. Now life is so fast that people have no time to do all this extremely fine quilting by hand. Everything is machine made. I was travelling to Kolkata and went passed a tribal area where i saw people doing this fine art work. They use old sarees, put one on the other and do very fine quilting by hand. Each scarf takes more than a week and it is very eye tiring work. I intervied this community and i found that they are doing this work to keep this art alive. I was impressed and bought some scarves from them. To be honest, i couldn't get many as i wanted because it takes long time to make one and they are not avaiblable in huge quantities. Now i am using these fine silk scarves to make very special bedspreads as my masters used them in patches with plain silk to create extremely beautiful designs. I am also making some nice skirts and bags out of them and also want to sell them as table cloths. So one can use them the way you want or just wear these unique pieces and i can assure you that it will be a curious masterpiece and you could have to face thousands of questions from your freinds about these scarves, how they are made, where they are made and where did you get :-) So own these master pieces and bring home history of India and fine art.
