georg jensen gilt sterling silver spoon of the year 1998

gold on solid sterling silver

familiar berries from the danish countryside and gardens have inspired artist and
architect annelise bjorner to create the beautiful motifs on the annual spoons
from georg jensen


over the years the motifs have become so popular among collectors that the series
has now extended the six years originally planned

this year´s spoon with its "gooseberry" motif is therefore ninth in the series


the spoon of the year is made of gold plated sterling silver with the motif inlaid in enamel


the spoon is made in a limited number - with the tool destroyed in march 1999
to make future production impossible

length of the spoon is approx. 15.2 cm. = 6 inches


stamps are georg jensen post 1945, sterling, denmark


condition is new and unused


this item comes in the original georg jensen box


it is a discontinued design from georg jensen in copenhagen, denmark


annelise bjorner

born in 1932


qualified as an architect from the royal danish academy of fine arts
school of architecture in 1956


since 1965 the has worked on a number of commissions for
georg jensen silversmiths, including cooperation with architect rigmor andersen


she has taken part in several exhibitions and was awarded with the
eckersberg medal in 1968
