1900 China German Kiautschou Blue and Gold embossed postcard sent to France. A Narbonne arrival cancellation is present but without forwarding franking or postmark. The card could have been packed in mail packages to France together with other mails and thus had not been franked/cancelled. There was an immense influx of mails to Europe (from China) during this period due to the closing of the Boxer Uprising. Mistreatment of mails did happen at times. Symbols at the left are German military coat of arm and a golden Chinese dragon. A similar card (but red) was sold in John Bull Auction on 27 June 2009 (item 261) for HK$1200 (before commission). Scan of the catalogue is enclosed here for reference only. Condition of card is acceptable in view if its age. The 4 corners are good and it makes a good display item as an iconic German Forces Formular Card. Just to clarify- Please note that only the Blue Card will be sold. The Red Card and the JB catalogue are not part of the auction item. Postage/packing worldwide with registered mail is US$2.50 |
