About me, Jnewboy This is from my personal custom collection I am selling on eBay. I have built models for 20+ years and have had work published in Fine Scale Model Magazine. I am an expert on the Luftwaffe and WWII. I have been collecting 1/18 scale for the past several years and now am selling off some of my custom collection. I do not use reserves as I believe it is not forthright. I don't like my time wasted by bidding when I do not know the price and so I return this favor to you the buyer by showing the price. My models are very well done and well worth more than what I start them at. Prices are dictated by scarcity of the model and the amount of time and/or material used. I am an ethical person and guarantee you will get fast responses to any questions you may have as well as the correct (un-inflated) shipping charges. I now offer Parcel Post or Express Mail. I send all models in double reinforced boxes to ensure no damage is done. I do ship internationally but must be contacted first by perspective bidder. Item will be shipped within 24hrs of payment. Payment is due within 48hrs of winning bid. Custom 1/18 Tiger I This is the 1/18 Tiger I from Ultimate Soldier. Custom pieces as well as parts for the 1/18 Forces of Valor Tiger I were used plus a few parts from other 1/18 21st Century & BBI Toys. Model has great Zimmerit coating that was then painted in the tri-color ambush pattern authentic for France in 1944. The paint was then weathered and detailed. Rope rigging was made for the Tiger I and foliage from Woodland Scenics was applied. Lots of custom detail including stenciled numbers, MG-34 w/ custom ammo box and bullets, track link stowage hinges and much more. Also included is custom SS tank commander pictured. 1944 Autumn France diorama and figures are not included. History of the Tiger I The Tiger I was a German heavy tank used in World War II, produced from late 1942 as an answer to the unexpectedly formidable Soviet armor encountered in the initial months of Operation Barbarossa, particularly the T-34 and the KV-1. The Tiger I design gave the Wehrmacht its first tank capable of using the 88 mm gun, which had previously demonstrated its effectiveness against both aircraft and tanks. During the course of the war, the Tiger I saw combat on all German battlefronts except north Africa. They were usually deployed in independent tank battalions, which proved to be quite formidable. While the Tiger I was feared by many of its opponents, it was over-engineered, expensive and time-consuming to produce. Only 1355 were built between August 1942 and August 1944. The Tiger was prone to mechanical breakdowns and in 1944, production was phased out in favor of the Tiger II. Some experts argue to this day that the Tiger 1 was to blame for the defeat of Germany. Though many factors contributed to the defeat the Tiger 1 was so costly to produce that some believe that up to 3 Panthers could have been produced for every Tiger 1. The Panther was a lighter tank but its sloping armor was comparable to the Tigers and its high velocity 76mm had comparable penetration to the Tiger 1's 88mm. The Tiger tank will always signify German armor in WWII. |
